After Didier Deschamps' departure from the head coach position of the French national team, the main candidate to replace him has been announced.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that Zinedine Zidane is expected to take this position. The French Football Federation is considering the 53-year-old specialist as the national team's future coach.
Deschamps' contract with the national team expires on July 31, 2026. Zidane, on the other hand, last worked for Spain's “Real Madrid” team.
It should be noted that the French national team is a rival of the Azerbaijani national team in Group D of the DÇ-2026 qualifying round.
