A Kenyan court has arrested a person suspected of deceiving the country's citizens and sending them to fight in Ukraine on Russia's side.
Modern.az reports this, citing the BBC.
According to the investigation, Edward Kamau Gituku, through the criminal gang he led, deceived Kenyans with the promise of work and took them to Russia, but there he forcibly enlisted them into the Russian army and sent them to Ukraine.
Police detained the suspect during a raid near Nairobi on September 25. As a result of the operation, 22 people who were preparing to be taken to Russia were rescued.
The incident came into focus after a video released by Ukraine. In the footage, 36-year-old former Kenyan athlete Evans Kibet, who was captured, testified that he was deceived into signing a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
