American blogger and former naval serviceman Patrick Lancaster was turned back from the border despite wanting to come to the South Caucasus.

According to Modern.az, he was not allowed to enter Georgian territory.

It should be recalled that Lancaster illegally entered Karabakh via Armenia during the 44-day war and prepared reports from the Kalbajar and Lachin regions. Lancaster, who at that time presented himself as an “independent journalist,” was later known as a military propagandist for Russia in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Speaking to Russian media, Lancaster stated that he and his wife were detained at the border for 4 hours:
“They did not allow us entry without giving any reason. This is a violation of freedom of speech and the press. This decision was made due to my journalistic activities,” he claimed.

According to him, although his wife Nadezhda was granted entry, she refused to enter Georgia. The couple's plan was to film in Tbilisi and then travel to Armenia.

It is not known why Lancaster was sent to the South Caucasus again specifically now. In recent years, he has gained prominence with reports promoting Russia's military operations in Ukraine and has continued his activities there until now.
