A US Air Force reconnaissance aircraft named "Boeing RC-135 Combat Sent" conducted circular flights near Kaliningrad.
Modern.az reports that the incident occurred at a time of increased tension between Moscow and the West.
According to the Daily Mail publication, the aircraft took off from Great Britain in the morning, flew over the Baltic countries, and circled the Kaliningrad region several times. After the mission was completed, the aircraft returned to its base in Britain.
The flight took place one day after German Chancellor Friedrich Merz's statement that Russia was waging a “hybrid war” and violating NATO airspace.
The "RC-135 Combat Sent" aircraft performs electronic reconnaissance functions. By analyzing radar signals, the aircraft identifies the enemy's military capabilities and facilitates the development of countermeasures strategies. The aircraft is equipped with an in-flight refueling system, modern navigation, and communication technologies. The crew includes up to 10 radio-electronic reconnaissance officers.
