An explosion occurred in front of the courthouse in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
Modern.az reports that the “Reuters” agency disseminated this information, citing a police official.
It is reported that 12 people died as a result of the incident.
A police spokesperson stated that the condition of several of the injured is serious:
“We are investigating the type of explosion. The source of the incident has not yet been determined. We will only be able to provide detailed information after the report from the forensic laboratory,” the statement noted.
The incident occurred at the entrance of Islamabad's district court, in an area where numerous citizens had gathered.
Police and emergency service personnel were dispatched to the scene, and the area was completely cordoned off for security purposes.
Currently, the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Officials do not rule out the possibility of terrorism at this initial stage.
