In the city of Monmouth, located in southeast Wales, a state of emergency has been declared due to powerful and widespread floods caused by Hurricane “Claudia”.

Modern.az reports that following the decision, rescuers are conducting evacuations, rescue operations, and safety checks related to residents. It is reported that rainy weather conditions will continue in Great Britain over the weekend, with severe cold weather expected next week. Approximately 50 flood warnings are in effect for England, and 9 warnings for Wales.

As a result of the River Monnow overflowing, many homes and businesses in Monmouth city center have been submerged. Some local residents have been evacuated to the city library amidst warnings of danger to life.

City MP Martin Nyuel described this as the most severe situation observed in Monmouth in the last 20–30 years, stating that he was extremely saddened for the victims.
