Amid reports of a US military intervention in Venezuela, the fate of the country's president, Nicolas Maduro, is being discussed.

According to Modern.az, the publication "Politico" has written about this.

A part of the Trump administration is advancing the idea of creating a safe exit corridor for Maduro and his closest team. The other group, however, holds a completely opposite position, demanding Maduro's arrest and his appearance before a US court.

Discussions are underway regarding Maduro's exile to Turkey, Russia, Cuba, or other countries.

Amidst these discussions, several scenarios are on the agenda. Coordinated talks on this matter are being held within various US agencies – the Department of State, the Department of Energy, the Department of the Treasury, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Defense. According to sources, Maduro may be offered amnesty, the cancellation of the bounty placed on his head by the US, and a “comfortable life in exile.”

One of the ideas under discussion is the involvement of private security companies from third countries to protect the future government.

Some circles within the US believe that military pressure exerted under the guise of combating drug cartels could create political collapse in Venezuela and accelerate Maduro's departure from power.

According to "The Atlantic" magazine, Maduro agrees to resign under certain conditions – in exchange for amnesty, the cancellation of the bounty, and a guarantee of exile.

It should be noted that the US Department of Justice filed charges against Maduro for involvement in drug trafficking in 2020. In August 2025, the reward for his capture was increased from 15 million dollars to 50 million dollars.

US President Donald Trump recently stated that “Maduro's presidency is nearing its end.”
