The US and Armenia have established a new joint working group to accelerate the implementation of the “Trump Route” (Zangezur corridor) project.
Modern.az reports that this was announced during the meeting between US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political Affairs Hooker and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
Hooker stated that the expansion of cooperation between Washington and Yerevan, as well as the progress achieved in recent months towards the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijan and Armenia-Turkey relations, creates real opportunities for the opening of the South Caucasus as an important trade route.
According to him, the “Trump Route” is regarded as a strategic transport line that can connect the region with European and Middle Eastern markets, and the newly established working group will carry out the technical, political, and economic coordination for the project.
The head of the group will be Coulter, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
Officials from both countries have stated that the project “will serve to strengthen stability and economic integration in the South Caucasus.”
