In recent years, the number of people living alone in the world has reached a record high.
Modern.az reports that, according to a study by "The Economist" magazine, the proportion of people living alone has increased in 26 of the world's 30 wealthiest countries since 2010.
In just eight years, more than 100 million people on the planet have started living alone.
One of the most notable examples of this change is the USA. In the last 50 years, the number of men without a partner in the country has doubled, reaching 50 percent. For women, this figure is 41 percent. Experts state that this affects not only the institution of family but also the social and demographic structure of the USA as a whole.
The research indicates that the reasons behind living alone are multifaceted. One of the biggest changes is related to women's lifestyles and expectations. Rising education levels, increased economic independence, and differing social demands have created a new reality in the matter of forming relationships.
Another important factor is income and education inequality. Men without higher education and stable income face difficulties in forming relationships. The strengthening financial independence of women, on the other hand, allows them to more comfortably choose to live alone.
Experts warn that such a rapid increase in the number of people living alone could seriously alter not only individual lifestyles but also countries' demographic growth, economic development, and the direction of social policies in the future. Increased urbanization, expansion of education, and people's preference for more independent living further strengthen this trend.
