The process concerning the PKK laying down arms and the dissolution of the organization in Turkey has once again become the main topic on the political agenda.
According to Modern.az, Devlet Bahçeli, the leader of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), made strong statements regarding the issue during his speech at the party group meeting.
Bahçeli stated that there are circles that want to harm the ongoing process aimed at completely silencing the weapons, and therefore, everyone must act responsibly at this stage.
According to him, Turkey will “enter a more stable and secure period” after this process is completed.
The MHP leader touched upon the issue of meeting with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is imprisoned in İmralı, and called the debates surrounding this visit inappropriate.
“The process commission has entered its final stage. It is possible to determine the delegation that will go to İmralı. There is no point in creating a debate around this visit. If no one agrees to go, I will not hesitate to take three of my colleagues and go to İmralı. I will openly state my opinion looking the person in front of me in the eye,” he noted.
The MHP leader emphasized that the goal of “a Turkey without terror” is the unchangeable stance of both the people and the state.
