Ukraine is currently experiencing one of the most difficult periods in its recent history.
Modern.az reports that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated this in his address to the nation.
The head of state emphasized that Ukraine might face an extremely difficult choice in the coming days.
“We are now living through one of the most difficult moments in our history. The pressure on Ukraine is at its highest level ever. The country may face a very complex choice: either lose dignity, or risk losing a key partner. Either a difficult 28-point plan, or the most challenging winter and subsequent risks. Life without freedom, dignity, and justice, and living this by trusting someone who has already attacked us twice, is impossible,” – said Zelensky.
He stated the importance of considering Ukraine's national interests in discussions regarding the peace plan proposed by the United States:
“We will work calmly and constructively with America and other partners. I will present arguments, try to convince our partners, and offer alternatives. But we will not give the enemy any reason to say ‘Ukraine does not want peace’."
Zelensky also touched upon the country's internal political processes and called on political forces to demonstrate unity:
“We must pull ourselves together, stop internal strife and political games. The state must function. In a state of war, parliament must operate unitedly, and the government must act efficiently.”
The head of state announced that the coming week would be very intense, both politically and in terms of information:
“Difficult days lie ahead. There will be a lot of pressure. The enemy does not sleep.”
