New details have emerged regarding the meeting of members of the Turkish Parliament's National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Commission with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan.

Modern.az reports that Hüseyin Yayman from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit from the DEM Party, and Feti Yıldız from the MHP went to İmralı Island on November 24 and held a 2-hour and 50-minute meeting with Öcalan.

The deputies traveled to the meeting by helicopter from Istanbul, and the conversation was officially protocolled with an audio recording. The members also took personal notes.

According to the information, no photos or videos were taken during the meeting, and no photos were taken with Öcalan. Unlike previous meetings, representatives of security agencies did not participate in the process this time, as the commission members prepared an official protocol on behalf of the assembly.

It is reported that Öcalan reiterated his previously expressed position regarding Turkey and the region, particularly updating his views within the framework of his call for the PKK to lay down arms on February 27. The PKK leader emphasized the important role of MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli in the process and thanked various political leaders.

One of the main topics of discussion at the meeting was the non-participation of the CHP in the İmralı delegation. According to reports, Öcalan conveyed the message, “I wish the CHP had also been present,” regarding this.

The Syrian issue was also extensively evaluated at the meeting.

Although the next meeting of the Commission is expected to be held on November 26, the TBMM leadership has not yet finalized the meeting date. It is also unknown whether the meeting will be open to the press.
