The provinces of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, located in northeastern Syria, are fully coming under the control of official Damascus.

Modern.az reports that this is stated in the ceasefire agreement reached between the Syrian army and the Kurdish coalition - the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The agreement was signed by the country's president, Ahmed al-Sharaa.

According to the text of the agreement, all military units of the SDF will be withdrawn from the territories located east of the Euphrates River. This step is considered an initial stage for the subsequent redeployment of forces.

The document also stipulates the immediate and full transfer of administrative and military control in the provinces of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa to the Syrian government.

According to the agreement, the oil and gas fields located in Deir ez-Zor province, which came under the control of government forces on Sunday, will also henceforth be under the administration of official Damascus. These facilities had long held strategic importance in terms of the country's energy resources.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced the cessation of all combat operations in the northeastern regions. A statement issued by the state-owned SANA agency reported that a ceasefire regime has come into force on all fronts, and military activities in conflict zones have been completely halted. According to the official statement, this decision aims to prepare for the opening of safe humanitarian corridors, the return of residents to their homes, and the restoration of state institutions' activities.
