Ukraine will continue its defense, and at the same time, it will conduct offensive operations.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, in an interview with LB.ua, while announcing the plans for 2026.
He said that victory cannot be achieved through defense. “Russia's global plans for 2026 have not changed. Russia targets all of Ukraine and remains committed to its plans", the Commander-in-Chief emphasized.
Syrskyi noted that his country's offensive plan, to prevent active movements of Russian defense forces, results in the deployment of significant manpower, weapons, and ammunition, and forces them to retreat.
It should be recalled that the Ukrainian army conducted a counter-offensive operation in Donbas from August to October 2025. According to Oleksandr Syrskyi, at that time, Ukrainian forces crushed the enemy's assault group and liberated more than 430 square kilometers of territory north of Pokrovsk. Additionally, the Russians lost more than 13,000 soldiers in these battles.
