From February 24, 2022, until January 13, 2026, at least 163,606 Russian servicemen have been confirmed killed in the war in Ukraine.
Modern.az reports that this comes from an updated list published by journalists from BBC Russian Service and Mediazona, together with a team of volunteers, based on open-source data.
According to the report, 6,302 officers have been confirmed killed in the Russian army and other power structures. By September 2024, volunteers once again led in the number of casualties (53,976; 33%). During this period, the involvement of prisoners in the war significantly decreased, and no new mobilization has been announced in Russia.
