The US has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to join the Gaza Peace Council.

Modern.az reports that Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov informed journalists about this.

"Yes, President Putin has also received an invitation through diplomatic channels to join this peace council. We are currently studying all the details of this proposal and hope to contact the American side to clarify all the nuances," Peskov said.

US President Donald Trump announced the creation of the Gaza Peace Council on January 16, 2026. The creation of this organization, along with the deployment of international forces, was part of the American leader's peace plan for Gaza. The executive committee will include US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff, the president's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was also among the first to receive an invitation to join the Gaza Peace Council.

According to Bloomberg, US authorities are asking countries wishing to secure permanent membership in the International Peace Council for the Gaza Strip to donate at least $1 billion.
