The Foreign Intelligence Service of the Republic of Armenia has published its annual report on foreign risks for 2026.
Modern.az reports that, according to the annual report of the Foreign Intelligence Service, military escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan is almost not expected in 2026.
It was noted that the probability of escalation has significantly decreased as a result of the Washington agreements and the initialing of the peace treaty by both sides on August 8, 2025.
The Foreign Intelligence Service also considers local clashes not stemming from military-political intentions to be impossible.
According to the report, the probability of new progress in the field of border delimitation and demarcation, as well as the implementation of trade and economic initiatives, dialogue between the two societies, humanitarian projects, etc., is high.
The Foreign Intelligence Service is equally optimistic about the opening of communications in the region.
Nevertheless, the intelligence service also sees certain risks in Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
