The White House intends to hold a meeting of the participants of the Peace Council on the settlement in the Gaza Strip in Washington on February 19.
Modern.az reports that the "Axios" portal has disseminated information about this.
"This will be the first meeting of the Peace Council and a conference for fundraising for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip," the publication's source stated.
According to the portal, the White House hopes that this meeting will contribute to the implementation of the second phase of the settlement plan in the Palestinian enclave.
The Washington administration began contacts on February 6 to invite leaders of dozens of countries and discuss logistical issues. The list of these states has not been provided. The portal notes that plans for holding the meeting may change. It is also expected that US President Donald Trump will receive Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on February 18.
Donald Trump announced the creation of the Peace Council for the Gaza Strip on January 16. The establishment of the Council is part of Trump's peace plan, along with the deployment of international forces in Gaza. The following day, the White House announced the composition of the council. This included US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. Each member of the executive council will lead a specific direction for stabilizing the situation in Gaza. These directions include strengthening governance capacity, regional relations, reconstruction, attracting investments, large-scale financing, and capital mobilization.
On January 22, a signing ceremony for the Charter of the Peace Council was held in Davos, Switzerland. The document was jointly approved by leaders and delegations of states supporting Washington's initiative. It is assumed that the Peace Council will deal not only with stabilizing the situation in Gaza but also with preventing and resolving conflicts in other regions.
