Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has pardoned more than 2,000 prisoners.
Modern.az reports, citing Iranian media, that Khamenei has agreed to pardon or commute the sentences of 2,108 prisoners convicted of various crimes.
It should be noted that Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, the head of Iran's judiciary, in a letter to Khamenei, requested the pardoning or commutation of sentences for prisoners on the occasion of the month of Sha'ban and the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.
It should be recalled that Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei announced that individuals arrested in connection with the recent protests would not be included in the pardon list.
