Regarding the railway issue, the Armenian side has appealed to partners in Russia both at the political and technical levels, and positive signals have been received in the initial stage.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with local channels.
He explicitly emphasized that there is currently a fundamental point, and this should be discussed without concealment.
According to Pashinyan, it is technically possible for the railway to be built from the Zangilan direction to enter the Meghri territory and then re-enter Azerbaijan from there. However, the main question remains in what international format and under what conditions this project will be implemented.
Pashinyan stated that the Kars – Dilucu railway project is being actively advanced by Azerbaijan and Turkey. Against this backdrop, the involvement of the Akhurik – Yeraskh line in the logistics process is of vital importance for Armenia. The aforementioned line is currently under Russian administration, and if this direction is not included in the transport chain, Armenia could effectively lose its competitive advantage.
According to the Prime Minister, alternative routes becoming more attractive for the other side means strategic losses for Armenia. Therefore, a solution that preserves the balance of interests and is based on the principles of partnership and genuine friendship must be found.
