Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Spanish footballers playing for an Iranian team have left the country and gone to Turkey.
Modern.az reports that Moroccan-born footballer Munir El Haddadi, in an interview with “Cadena SER”, shared his fear and anxiety: “We saw the missiles, it was very impactful. It was the first time I faced such a situation. Now I am safe and well.”
Munir noted that he had no internet access for several days and stated that his decision on whether to return to Iran was not yet definite.
“We saw some missiles being destroyed in the sky by Iran's air defense systems. Since the flight did not take place, we set off by car. It took approximately 12 hours to reach the Turkish border”, – Ivan Sanchez also stated.
After waiting at the airport from 05:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the footballers boarded a flight to Istanbul and then departed for Spain. (Haber Global)
