On March 6, 2026, Muhi Al-Din Salem Ahmed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Sudan, called Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to information provided to Modern.az by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized that the drone attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of the Republic of Azerbaijan on March 5, which resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure and individuals, are contrary to our sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He brought to the attention of the Sudanese side that we demand clarification, explanation, an apology from the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the mentioned attack, and that necessary urgent measures be taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.

The Sudanese Minister expressed concern over these attacks and stated that targeting civilian infrastructure is unacceptable.

The ministers also discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries.

Belgium condemned the drone attacks on Nakhchivan.

Modern.az reports that this was written by Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maxime Prévot, on his “X” account.

“Belgium strongly condemns yesterday's drone attack on Nakhchivan airport, which caused injuries to civilians and damaged civilian infrastructure. I express my full solidarity with the people and government of Azerbaijan.

Any escalation by Iran undermines the possibility of a return to stability. We call for restraint and respect for international law,” the minister noted.

On March 6, 2026, Ervin Ibrahimović, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, called Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

According to information provided to Modern.az-by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regional security issues were extensively discussed during the telephone conversation between the ministers.

During the conversation, the parties noted the importance of increasing diplomatic efforts and upholding respect for the norms and principles of international law amidst the escalating situation in the Middle East.

During the talks, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his counterpart about the drone attacks carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on March 5. It was emphasized that this action is contrary to our country's territorial integrity and international law.

Minister Ervin Ibrahimović strongly condemned Iran's drone attacks against our country, stating that they cause concern, and noted that he understands Azerbaijan's position and stands in solidarity with our country.

During the telephone conversation, other issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
