The Trump administration is discussing taking control of Iran's Kharg Island, in addition to ensuring the security of enriched uranium reserves.
Modern.az reports that the “Axios” portal disseminated information about this, citing US administration officials.
According to the publication, the US and Israel view Iran's 450 kilograms of 60% enriched uranium as a serious threat. This is because it would only take weeks to bring it to weapons-grade level. If the entire reserve were enriched to 90%, it would be enough for 11 nuclear bombs.
As for Kharg Island, it is a strategic terminal accounting for approximately 90% of Iran's crude oil exports.
Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid also called for attacks on oil facilities on Kharg Island.
