Abutalib Namazov, the son of renowned journalist Shahvalad Chobanoglu, is pursuing doctoral studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA, which is among the world's most prestigious universities.
Modern.az-ın məlumatına görə, this was stated by the journalist's younger son, Mete Namazov.
It should be noted that Abutalib Namazov was admitted to the computer science program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2020.
According to Mete, his brother Abutalib is the first Azerbaijani doctoral student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He stated that although Abutalib was offered a high-paying job in the USA, his brother chose to continue his education:
“When I think about the salary offered in his last job proposal, I get a bit lost in thought. We would have left poverty behind. That day I had also liked a good car, we would have bought it... But my brother chose science. He is currently a doctoral student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The university has also covered all his expenses. When I go to the university's website and see his name and picture among the faculty and research staff, my wings open, and I feel like I'm turning into a flying machine.
Doctoral studies at MIT are considered one of the most difficult to get into and most prestigious academic programs in the world. This is not just about obtaining a scientific degree, but also about developing in one of the world's strongest scientific centers.
Believe me, my pride in him is not primarily because he is the first Azerbaijani doctoral student at MIT. I don't hide it, I am very happy about that too. But his being a simple, pure, and righteous person is more important to me,” Mete Namazov noted.
He also spoke about his sisters. He stated that his elder sister, Sakina Namazova, who graduated from Baku Anatolian High School in Azerbaijan, is currently a doctor at Hacettepe University Hospital in Turkey.
Mete emphasized that his younger sister Nargiz is also studying medicine and expressed his pride in them.
