Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, Honored Teacher, Head of the Finance and Audit Department of Azerbaijan State University of Economics, former Minister of Finance Avaz Alakbarov also expressed his views on Ramiz Mehdiyev.
In a statement to Modern.az, Avaz Alakbarov said:
“He was a professional apparatus employee, I knew him, there was no conflict between us. Since the Ministry was directly subordinate to the country's President, he could not interfere in my work. After I left, I had no contact. After I defended my doctoral dissertation, he prevented me from getting my diploma. However, 15 months after the President intervened, I received the relevant diploma.
Now, very serious accusations have been announced against him, and a preventive measure has been chosen regarding him.
At this age, with what wisdom did he take such a path, what are his ambitions, and where do these financial opportunities come from? Peace and tranquility, the restoration of liberated territories, and the Great Return process are being implemented in our country. Why can't he accept these?
I believe that he and his subordinates, including Eldar Mahmudov, should be severely punished before the law, their ranks, orders, and medals should be revoked, and illegally acquired funds and properties should be returned to the state!”
