A statement has been released regarding the criminal case investigated by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General concerning Elton Arzuman oglu Mammadov, former head of the Department of Affairs of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, and currently the head of the Social Services Department of the Presidium Apparatus of the same institution.
Regarding this, Modern.az was informed by the Prosecutor General's Office.
"In his statement, Elton Mammadov noted that he was not summoned to the investigative p, that he did not commit any legal violations, and called the information disseminated in the media in this context false.
It is reported that regarding the illegalities that occurred at ANAS, in the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General, in the criminal case where preliminary investigation is ongoing under Articles 179.4 (embezzlement causing particularly large damage) and 308.2 (abuse of official powers leading to serious consequences) of the Criminal Code, suspicions have been identified regarding the unjustified expenditure of 3 million manats of budget funds.
As a result of investigative measures, the 3 million manats of budget funds unjustifiably spent were fully reimbursed to the state budget by Elton Mammadov.
In addition, due to his dissemination of statements in the media that were inconsistent with the truth and caused confusion in society, as well as actions that could harm the objectivity of the preliminary investigation and public trust, Elton Mammadov was invited to the Prosecutor General's Office, and was officially warned after the requirements of the legislation were explained to him",-the information states.
