News has spread that Islam Rzayev, the Head of Balakan District Executive Power, has been detained by the State Security Service (SSS). The news states that he was detained within the framework of an operation conducted in connection with corruption offenses and official crimes.

Islam Vahid oglu Rzayev was born in Goychay district in 1965. In 1988, he graduated from the Baku branch of the Leningrad Financial-Economic Institute with a degree in economics.
He began his professional career in 1988 as a senior economist at the Goychay District Finance Department.
He worked as a department head, head of inspection, and deputy head of department in the structures of the Ministry of Taxes for Goychay district and Nizami and Azizbeyov districts of Baku city.
He worked as a chief specialist at "Azerigas" Closed Joint Stock Company, and from 2007 to May 18, 2011, he served as Deputy Head of the Audit Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan.
Islam Rzayev was appointed Head of Balakan District Executive Power on May 18, 2011. He is a member of YAP. He is married and has 3 children.
