In this presentation of the Modern.az website's "Masters of Life" rubric, we are talking about the oldest resident of Oğuz district, one of Azerbaijan's picturesque corners.
Oğuz district is one of the most charming regions of our country, adorned with greenery. Its area is 1077 square kilometers, and its population is over 40 thousand. This ancient land, founded on August 8, 1930, was formerly called Vartashen, and since 1991, it has borne the name Oğuz. Oğuz district has 33 villages. The district borders the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation to the north, Gabala to the east, Shaki to the west, and Aghdash to the south.
Oğuz is also distinguished by its rich nature, encompassing emerald forests, icy springs, powerful waterfalls, and medicinal plants, covering more than 40 percent of its territory. This beauty and purity of nature are also among the secrets of the region's long-lived residents.
The longest-lived resident of this heavenly land is 88-year-old Hüseyn Kərəm oğlu Məmmədov.
He was born on February 15, 1937, in the village of Khachmaz in the district. He currently lives in the same village where he was born and raised.
According to information provided by his relatives to Modern.az, Hüseyn has been a person dedicated to education and hard work throughout his life. For many years, he worked as an elementary school teacher, playing a unique role in the formation of fundamental knowledge for numerous students.
Hüseyn Məmmədov has 7 children – 3 daughters and 4 sons. He is also a grandfather to 15 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 25 great-grandchildren. Unfortunately, his wife, Kamilə Hidayət qızı Məmmədova, has passed away.
Hüseyn, who spent most of his life in diligent and honest labor, was also involved in agricultural work. According to his son, the secret to his longevity lies in both the clean air of his native Oğuz and a healthy, natural diet.
Today, Hüseyn Məmmədov lives out the wisdom of his years surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, enveloped in the respect and love of his family. The oldest resident of Oğuz has left a mark in the memory of his fellow villagers as both a simple teacher and a symbol of diligence and humility.

It should be noted that currently, 425 people over the age of 80 live in Oğuz district. Of these, 245 are women and 180 are men.
