Areq Kochinyan, a member of the Armenian delegation returning from a visit to Baku, shared details of a conversation with Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration.
Modern.az reports that, according to Areq Kochinyan at a press conference held in Yerevan, Hikmet Hajiyev stated during a meeting with Armenian experts that the war is over for Baku.
According to him, H. Hajiyev asked them to convey several messages to Armenian society: The conflict is over for Baku; Azerbaijanis want to transition from the current "no-war" situation to peace and establish comprehensive and lasting peace with Armenia.
A. Kochinyan added that Azerbaijan has no territorial claims against Armenia.
Representatives of Armenian civil society paid a return visit to Baku last week. Within the framework of the visit, representatives from Armenia – Areq Kochinyan, Boris Navasardyan, Naira Sultanyan, Narek Minasyan, and Samvel Meliksetyan – met with their Azerbaijani counterparts Farhad Mammadov, Rusif Huseynov, Kamala Mammadova, Ramil Iskandarli, and Fuad Abdullayev.
They were received by Hikmet Hajiyev on Saturday. The discussions focused on the actions of Armenia and Azerbaijan following the agreements reached in Washington on August 8. H. Hajiyev answered questions from members of the Armenian delegation.
