News has been published in the Western press about the possibility of Azerbaijani peacekeepers being sent to Gaza.
According to the "Axios" portal, the US administration plans to announce the start of the “second phase” for Gaza by December 25.
The second phase envisages the withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza, the deployment of “international stabilization forces” in the territory, and the commencement of new governance structures, including a “Peace Council”.
According to the source's claim, Azerbaijan, Egypt, Indonesia, and Turkey have initially agreed to join the international stabilization forces.
According to Modern.az, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov clarified the claims.
The Minister confirmed that Azerbaijan has received an invitation to join as international stabilization forces.
"We were one of the first countries to be invited. When we received the invitation from the US, the explanation was that Azerbaijan is one of the rare countries that has good relations with all countries in the region and is neutral. From this perspective, it is an important country to participate there", - Jeyhun Bayramov noted.
According to him, whether Azerbaijan will send peacekeepers is not yet certain.
"Since not all questions raised by our side in this direction have been answered, the participation of the Azerbaijani contingent is not certain", - the Minister emphasized.
