Khachmaz district is one of the oldest settlements in Azerbaijan. Khachmaz, formed as a district in 1930, operated for some time with the status of an urban-type settlement, and in 1963, it was abolished and its territory was merged with the Guba and Gusar districts. In 1965, the district was restored again. Khachmaz, bordering the Russian Federation in the north, is surrounded by the Caspian Sea in the northeast. Its center is Khachmaz city.
Agriculture plays a key role in the district's economy. Fruit growing, vegetable growing, grain farming, and animal husbandry are widely developed. A cannery, grape processing enterprises, bread and food product complexes, and a feed production plant operate in the area. Khachmaz also has a rich history. Kurgans such as Sarkartapa and Deyirmantapa, the Sheikh Yusuf mosque and mausoleum, and the Shah Abbas mosque-madrasa in Qaraqurdlu village are indicators of the region being an ancient land.
In this edition of the **"Masters of Life"** section of the **Modern.az** website, we discuss the oldest resident of **Khachmaz**.
The oldest resident of the district is 113-year-old **Gizpari Haji qizi Amrahova**. She was born in 1912 in Nağıoba village of Khachmaz district. She has 6 children - 3 daughters and 3 sons. Grandmother Gizpari is also a grandmother to 16 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. An interesting nuance is that Grandmother Gizpari currently has no great-great-grandchildren.

Gizpari Amrahova's husband, Amrah Balasi oglu Amrahov, was also born in 1912 in Nağıoba village of Khachmaz district. He passed away in 2001.
According to her relatives, rural life, physical activity, and natural nutrition played an important role in Gizpari Amrahova's longevity.
The fact that Gizpari Amrahova, who has surpassed 113 years of age, still enjoys good health and a long life, stands out as a clear example of Khachmaz's tradition of longevity.
We also wish Grandmother Gizpari a long life and good health!
It should be noted that currently, 2 residents over the age of 100 live in Khachmaz district. Both of them are women.
