The changes that took place in Syria 1 year ago have also developed relations between Azerbaijan and Syria.
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov while presenting the report on the outcomes of 2025.
The minister noted that the changes in Syria were a positive development for Azerbaijan.
“Since 2012, there have been no relations between Azerbaijan and the Bashar al-Assad regime. The reason for this was the unfriendly actions of the Bashar al-Assad regime against Azerbaijan. However, after the changes in Syria, relations between the two countries have normalized.”
The minister also spoke about the importance of gas exports to Syria, which began in August.
“This significantly reduces Syria's energy dependence” – he emphasized.
