Another unfriendly step has been taken against the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia.
Modern.az reports that the "Kaspiy" (Caspian) cafe, owned by the Safarov brothers, is being demolished in Yekaterinburg. Law enforcement agencies, cranes, and other special equipment have been brought to the area for the demolition work.
It is known that the cafe was a place where members of the Azerbaijani diaspora living in the Urals frequently gathered.
It should be recalled that on the morning of June 27, during a raid conducted by OMON on houses inhabited by Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg, the Safarov brothers were shot and killed, and several individuals were detained. The deceased are the biological brothers of the renowned journalist and literary critic Seyfaddin Huseynli.
The incident caused serious concern among the Azerbaijani public and state structures. On June 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issued an official statement regarding the bloody incident in Yekaterinburg, declaring that the Russian side bears responsibility.
Due to the incident, Russia's Chargé d'affaires in Azerbaijan was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and a strong official protest was conveyed to him.
Some individuals detained in connection with the incident are still in Russian prisons.
