Cigarette prices have sharply increased in Azerbaijan.
Modern.az reports that the price of a pack of cigarettes has increased by an average of 30-50 qepiks.
A pack of “Magna”, which previously cost 2 manats 60 qepiks, is now 2 manats 90 qepiks; “Pall Mall”, sold for 3 manats 10 qepiks, is now 3 manats 40 qepiks; “LD”, which cost 3 manats, is now 3 manats 30 qepiks; “Winston”, sold for 4 manats 20 qepiks, is now 4 manats 80 qepiks; “Kent”, which cost 4 manats 40 qepiks, is now 4 manats 80 qepiks; and “Sobranie”, sold for 4 manats 70 qepiks, is now 5 manats 10 qepiks. "Vant" has also increased from 3:10 to 3 manats 40 qepiks.
The prices offered in markets are approximately as follows. In kiosks, cigarettes are sold for approximately 20 qepiks more.
According to sellers, cigarettes have been offered at the current price in markets and kiosks for 3 days now.
It should be noted that excise duties on tobacco products in Azerbaijan have been increased since January 1. According to the amendment to the Tax Code, the excise duty rate for products intended for inhalation without combustion, containing tobacco or reconstituted tobacco, has been raised from 16 manats to 25.5 manats per thousand units for local production and import.
Excluding tobacco for manufacturing purposes, the excise duty rate for other smoking tobaccos, homogenized or reconstituted tobaccos, chewing tobaccos, or snuff tobaccos has been raised per kilogram from 22 manats to 162 manats for local production, and from 30 manats to 170 manats for import.
