Modern.az reports that President Ilham Aliyev said this during his interview with local television channels on January 5.
"Thus, this decision brought us a lot of money. By increasing our gold reserves, the State Oil Fund earned more than 10 billion US dollars just for this".
It should be recalled that in January-September 2025 alone, 38.5 kilograms of gold, valued at 3.750 billion US dollars, were imported into Azerbaijan from 22 countries.
As of October 1, 2025, the country's ready gold reserve amounted to 142.2 kilograms. Currently, 1 ounce of gold is sold for 4400 dollars in world markets, and the price of the precious metal continues to rise.
