Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated in an interview with local television channels that 5 social reform packages have been implemented over the past seven years and that these reforms covered 4 million citizens.
Modern.az, Milli Majlis deputy Vugar Bayramov stated that the 5th social package, implemented only last year, by covering more than 3 million citizens, served to further strengthen the social security system in our country:
"An additional 1.4 billion manats has been allocated for increases in 2025. This means that an additional 7.6 billion manats has been directed to packages implemented under the instruction of the Azerbaijani President only after 2020. While the average monthly salary across the republic increased by 8.1 percent in 2024, the increase was 9.4 percent in the first 10 months of last year. The final nominal average monthly salary increase rate for 2025 is expected to be officially announced in early February. The initial expectation is a 9.2 percent salary increase.
This means that starting this month, all types of pensions will be indexed and increased. Pension increases, expected to be 9.2 percent, will apply to more than 1 million 100 thousand of our citizens and will be calculated from January. This will apply to all types of labor pensions, including those receiving labor pensions for age, disability, and loss of the head of the family, for all our citizens.
This also means that in the pension of our citizen receiving an average pension of 540 manats, there will be an increase of approximately 50 manats starting this month. The January increase will be paid together with the February increase. As a result, the average monthly pension in Azerbaijan is projected to be approximately 590 manats in 2026, while the average pension for age will reach 629 manats, and this amount represents an increase of more than 7.9% compared to 2025".
According to the deputy, 17.1 billion manats are planned to be allocated from the 2026 state budget for social purposes: "This year, more than 41 percent of budget expenditures will be directed towards social purposes. This indicates that strengthening social security will remain one of the main priorities in 2026 as well".
