Clarification has been provided regarding the news spread on social networks about the import of 8,000 coffins from China to Azerbaijan.
In response to an inquiry from Modern.az, the State Customs Committee stated that 8,000 wooden clothes pegs were imported into the country. However, due to a technical error in the description of the goods and code 2 in the customs declaration, they were registered as coffins instead of clothes pegs.
"When the 'wooden clothes pegs' imported from the People's Republic of China were processed, the description of the goods and the first 4 digits of the HS code were correctly entered in the customs declaration, but a technical error occurred at the level of the 5th and 6th digits."
It was stated that the technical error was rectified by making the appropriate correction in the customs declaration.
It should be recalled that the import of 8,000 coffins from China to Azerbaijan had raised questions among the public and led to widespread discussions.
