This year, the internally displaced person (IDP) status and monthly social allowance of individuals who relocate to Karabakh and Eastern Zangezur and reside there for a period of 3 years will be revoked.
Modern.az reports that, according to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Social Protection of Internally Displaced Persons and Persons Equated to Them," the concessions and privileges applied for the social protection of internally displaced persons remain in force for the period determined by legislation. In accordance with the law, social protection measures provided for internally displaced persons are applied for a period of three years from the date when conditions are created for their return to their former permanent places of residence.
The IDP status of citizens relocated to the liberated territories and the monthly social payments provided to them are suspended after the expiration of the aforementioned three-year period, in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.
It should be noted that internally displaced persons who have already been living in the liberated territories for more than 3 years and whose IDP status has been revoked include those who have relocated to Fuzuli city, and the villages of Aghali, Zabukh, Sus, and Talish.
It should be recalled that the first relocation within the framework of the "Great Return" project was carried out to Aghali village of Zangilan district. On July 19, 2022, 41 families were relocated to the village.
