Heavy snowfall has caused serious damage in Lerik district, and there are problems with communication between several villages and the district center.
Vasif Qafarov, MP for the 80th Lerik - Astara constituency, stated in a declaration to Modern.az that snow continues to fall intensively in Lerik. The snow depth in Lerik city is close to 1 m, reaching 1.2-1.4 m in mountainous villages.
“Due to weather conditions, there is no electricity in more than 80 settlements of the district. Employees of the Southern Regional Energy Supply and Sales Department, including the Lerik Electric Network, are continuing their work to restore electricity”.
The MP noted that heavy machinery and personnel from Lerik Road Maintenance LLC No. 52 have been deployed to the area to ensure the continuous operation of the Lerik-Lankaran road. Due to a shortage of equipment, there are serious problems in clearing snow from the roads connecting most villages to the district center, as well as from rural roads.
