Heavy snowfall has caused serious problems in Lerik district, with communication issues between several villages and the district center.
The snow depth in Lerik city is close to 1 m, reaching 1.2-1.4 m in mountainous villages.
Heavy machinery and personnel from Lerik Road Maintenance LLC No. 52 have been deployed to the area to ensure the continuous operation of the Lerik-Lankaran road.
Due to a shortage of equipment, there are serious problems in clearing snow from the roads connecting most villages to the district center, as well as inter-village roads.
Anar Nəcəfli, press secretary of “Azəravtoyol” Open Joint Stock Company, made a statement to Modern.az- regarding the equipment shortage.
He noted that currently, heavy snow is falling not only in Lerik but also in many areas across the country – North, Northwest, South, Southwest, as well as in the Karabakh region:
“There is no equipment left in reserve. All snow-clearing machines on the balance sheet are continuously working in the relevant districts. At the same time, personnel are also active.
In Karabakh, even the equipment of contractor companies has been mobilized.
As a result of the heavy and continuous snowfall, cleared roads become blocked again within 15 minutes.”
Snow clearing operations and other related issues are ongoing," Anar Nəcəfli added.
