Leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia may meet in this country

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan may meet in the United Arab Emirates.

Modern.az reports that the meeting may take place within the framework of the solemn presentation ceremony of the “Zayed Award for Human Fraternity”.

Thus, this year President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have been awarded this prize for initialing the “Agreement on the Establishment of Peace and Interstate Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia”.

When President Ilham Aliyev received the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Mohamed Abdelsalam, and members of the jury – former President of the European Council Charles Michel and former Chairperson of the African Union Commission Moussa Faki – they presented him with an invitation letter to participate as an honorary guest.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during his speech at the "parliamentary hour" yesterday, stated that he would personally visit the United Arab Emirates on February 4 to receive the “Zayed Award for Human Fraternity”. 

It should be noted that the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia had also met in the United Arab Emirates on July 10 last year. It was after that meeting that the leaders of the countries, gathering in Washington on August 8, initialed the peace agreement with the participation of US leader Donald Trump.
