Today, an operational meeting was held at the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General, chaired by Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev, dedicated to discussing the state of work carried out in the field of combating corruption during 2025 and the tasks ahead.
Modern.az reports that Nazim Rajabov, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Head of the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General, who delivered a report at the meeting, brought to the attention of the meeting participants statistical data by analyzing them comparatively, regarding applications reviewed at the Main Department during the reporting period, information of a criminal nature, operational and preventive measures carried out, their positive results, mutual cooperation with international organizations and non-governmental organizations, criminal cases initiated, preliminary investigations completed, and sent to courts by the Main Department, and measures taken in connection with the compensation of damages incurred during the investigation.
It was noted that during the specified period, 11,671 applications from citizens were reviewed by the Main Department.
Furthermore, as a result of measures carried out jointly with relevant state bodies, the positive resolution of the vast majority of applications received from citizens by the “161-Hotline” contact center was ensured, and criminal-legal measures were taken where necessary.
Considering the significant importance of preventive measures in combating corruption by the Main Department, prosecutorial influence measures were also applied during the relevant period to eliminate conditions conducive to corruption crimes, and 133 submissions were sent to various agencies to identify the causes of committed legal violations and prevent their recurrence in the future. Based on these submissions, a number of employees were brought to disciplinary responsibility.
In addition, the reception of 910 citizens was ensured at the Main Department during the relevant period.
During the specified period, 315 applications and other information were considered as materials of a criminal nature at the Main Department, criminal cases were initiated under various articles of the Criminal Code based on 267 materials, and decisions were made to refuse the initiation of criminal cases for 48 materials, including 14 where the compensation of material damages incurred was also taken into account, and other prosecutorial influence measures were applied.
114 criminal cases were initiated by operational bodies, and as a result of operational-search measures carried out, 18 individuals committing corruption crimes were caught red-handed.
During the reporting period, 104 criminal cases involving 174 individuals were sent to courts for consideration by the Main Department. Convicting judgments were rendered in the absolute majority of criminal cases sent to courts, while the remaining cases are currently under judicial review.
During the reporting year, out of a total material damage of 35,391,465 manats inflicted on others' property in criminal cases where investigations were completed, the payment of 11,634,316 manats was ensured.
For the purpose of compensating the damage, the seizure of property amounting to 27,439,745 manats was ensured in criminal cases where investigations were completed.
During the reporting period, a number of important measures were carried out to improve the activities of the Main Department and anti-corruption legislation, and to study international experience in this field.
