The congress held in Baku, with the participation of individuals from nearby cities and regions, most of whom have no affiliation with the party, is illegitimate and constitutes another violation for legal dispute.
Elchin Aghamali, a candidate for the chairmanship of the Motherland Party, stated this in a statement to Modern.az.
He noted that the congress held today is illegitimate and is being conducted with numerous legal violations:
“Following the Motherland Party's congress held on October 25, 2025, the Ministry of Justice did not give a positive response to the party's appeal, citing the contentious nature of the congress proceedings. Reconciling with the unfair treatment against me, I had thoughts of stepping back, and I even voiced this idea at a certain point. However, the processes within the party after the congress dissuaded me from this idea. Specifically, after the congress, a process of persecution began against the chairpersons of the district (city) organizations who supported my candidacy, and they were expelled from the party ranks and party positions based on unsubstantiated claims, and in many cases, without any reason being given. This accounts for 3/4 of the party's existing local organizations. Decisions were made in the name of illegitimate party structures, subsequently leading to the adoption of a greater number of unlawful decisions. The next congress, accompanied by violations of all possible provisions of the charter articles, is currently being held secretly in the assembly hall of the building where the party is located. The congress held with the participation of individuals from Baku and nearby cities and regions, most of whom have no affiliation with the party, is illegitimate and constitutes another violation for legal dispute”.
Elchin Aghamali stated that the chairpersons of his party's district organizations would appeal to the court.
"The chairpersons of the district organizations have appealed to the court with the aim of restoring their violated rights and annulling a series of decisions made after the congress, and their defense from now on is a matter of conscience for me. Regular statements will be made to the press regarding the progress of the court proceedings,” he concluded.
