Individuals preparing to commit a terrorist attack against a foreign country's embassy in Azerbaijan have been arrested.
Information on this matter was provided to Modern.az by the Press Service of the State Security Service (SSS).
During operational-investigative measures carried out by the State Security Service (SSS), strong suspicions arose that citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan - Ilgar Ilham oglu Guliyev, born in 2000, with the religious alias “Abu Zar al-Muhajir”, Amin Elshad oglu Piriyev, born in 2005, with the religious alias “Abdurashid”, and Elvin Sanan oglu Alizade, born in 2005, with the religious alias “Abdurrahman al-Azeri” - were preparing to commit a terrorist attack against a foreign country's embassy in Baku on the grounds of religious animosity.
The aforementioned individuals entered into criminal contact with members of the “Vilayat-Khorasan” armed group of the ISIS terrorist organization, and as a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy, acquired objects used as weapons to commit a terrorist attack against the embassy of a foreign state in the Republic of Azerbaijan, and were detained by SSS employees while approaching the area where the embassy is located.
In connection with this incident, Ilgar Guliyev, Amin Piriyev, and Elvin Alizade were brought to criminal responsibility under Articles 28, 214.2.1, 28, 214.2.3 and 28, 214.2.6 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan (preparation for terrorism by a group of persons acting in prior conspiracy, using objects as weapons, on the grounds of religious animosity), and a pre-trial detention measure was chosen against them by court decision.
Currently, investigative-operational measures regarding the criminal case are ongoing.
