In order to ensure the implementation of the compulsory health insurance system in the Republic of Azerbaijan on the basis of a unified approach, a significant institutional change has been carried out.
According to **Modern.az**, for this purpose, a branch of the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance (Agency) has been established in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
Zaur Aliyev, Chairman of the Agency's Management Board, provided information on this matter at a press conference held on the topic “2025 Outcomes and Targets”.
The main purpose of establishing the branch is to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of the compulsory health insurance system in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, to expand the population's access to quality and affordable medical services, and to further improve the financing mechanisms for medical services. The new structure will both strengthen coordination between the Agency and medical institutions and play a significant role in the collection of compulsory health insurance premiums and the implementation of control mechanisms for medical services provided within the framework of the Services Package.
The branch will also perform functions such as informing the population about compulsory health insurance, overseeing the process of assignment to primary healthcare services, and organizing medical statistics and expertise work. In addition, support will be provided for the digitalization of processes related to compulsory health insurance in the region and the improvement of the information technology infrastructure.
The branch's activities will be organized within the Agency's general management framework, in accordance with existing legislative acts.
