In the last 4 years, the number of oncological patients among children has doubled.
Modern.az reports that Hicran Huseynova, Chair of the Family, Women and Children Affairs Committee, stated this at today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis.
The deputy noted that in 2024, there were 73,875 people. Over 24 years, the number of infected individuals has increased by approximately 3.5 times.
"The most concerning aspect is the increase in oncological diseases among children. In the 0-13 age group, 7.1 children per 100,000, and in the 14-17 age group, 10.6 children per 100,000 suffer from this disease. In the last 14 years, the number of oncological patients among children has doubled. These figures are official statistical indicators. And, of course, one Center physically struggles to provide quality service to so many patients. Private clinics treating oncological patients means the distribution of the patient load. Waiting lists will decrease, and treatment will become accessible for people."
According to the deputy, this change will lead to an increase in medical resources in this field.
"This change could also serve as an important legal basis for the future inclusion of oncological services in the insurance package. However, there is a need to equip these private clinics with modern devices and to train qualified personnel. Special attention should also be paid to this issue," he concluded.
