The number of women failing to pay alimony in Azerbaijan was DISCLOSED

In 2025, up to 142 thousand alimony cases were recorded in the proceedings of local executive bodies.

Modern.az reports, citing the Press Service of the Ministry of Justice, that last year alimony was paid with certain delays for up to 47 thousand cases:

“Alimony was not paid for up to 6300 cases. Protocols on administrative offenses were drawn up against 4299 individuals, of whom 2344 individuals were administratively arrested, and administrative penalties in the form of fines were applied against others. 

Additionally, regarding 235 individuals for whom a submission was made concerning their criminal liability, a criminal case was initiated in the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Justice under Article 306.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Of the alimony cases in proceedings, for approximately 2700 of them, the debtors were women”.

It should be noted that, according to Article 306.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, persons found guilty

may be punished with a fine from 2,000 to 5,000 manats, correctional labor for up to two years, restriction of liberty for up to two years, or two

years of deprivation of liberty.
