Since last night, unfavorable weather conditions have prevailed across the country, including Baku. The fate of citizens without permanent residence, living on the streets, is a cause for concern in this weather characterized by strong winds, blizzards, and sleet.
In response to an inquiry from Modern.az, the Social Services Agency under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population stated that only 2 individuals from vulnerable population groups have applied to the Shelter and Social Rehabilitation Institution in recent days:
"In recent days, 2 new residents have been admitted to the institution. Currently, a total of 76 individuals are being served in various departments of the institution. Of these, 46 are men and 30 are women. Citizens facing difficult life situations can benefit from the institution's services in accordance with the legislation. The social service needs of individuals admitted here are assessed, and an individual plan is prepared for each resident. Residents are involved in social-domestic, medical-social, social-psychological, social-legal, and socio-economic services for 6 months (180 days), and during this period, they are provided daily with food based on nutritional norms, accommodation, and clothing. Work is carried out here to ensure the employment of residents and support their reintegration into society”.
The organization stated that admission to the institution is carried out through the Agency's local bodies or DOST centers, based on the application of the individual themselves or their legal representative, as well as referrals from internal affairs, local executive authorities, and municipalities:
“Citizens can also submit their applications via the Social Services Agency's (012) 525 41 30 hotline, (050) 525 41 30 WhatsApp social platform, as well as social media accounts”.
