The trial in the criminal case against Armenian citizen Ruben Vardanyan, accused of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, as well as terrorism, financing of terrorism, and other grave crimes under the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, continues on February 10.
Modern.az reports that Rufat Mammadov, Head of the Cabinet of Ministers Apparatus, spoke as a victim on behalf of the Azerbaijani state during the proceedings held at the Baku Military Court. He stated that he agreed with all the facts, evidence, and proofs presented by the state prosecution and noted in the indictment, and requested the court to take this into consideration.
Subsequently, the legal heirs of the victims - Azad Karimov, Ogtay Shikhaliev, and others - spoke, requesting the court to sentence the accused to the most severe punishment - life imprisonment.
The accused, R. Vardanyan, addressed the court, stating his desire to speak with his defense lawyer, Emil Babishov. The court granted his request. A recess was announced in the court in connection with the accused's meeting with his lawyer.
The court proceedings will resume after the recess.
