A dispute has been ongoing for 10 years between the former ANS TV channel management and the Institute of Zoology. Specifically, equipment belonging to the ANS TV channel, whose operations were suspended on July 18, 2016, was stored in the building of the Institute of Zoology. The Institute had also repeatedly stated that it offered ANS a location for the relocation of the equipment.
Modern.az attempted to contact both the former ANS TV channel management and the Institute of Zoology to ascertain the latest situation in the long-standing dispute.
Elmar Nazirli, Head of the Public Relations Department of the Institute of Zoology, stated in his declaration to Modern.az that the equipment of the suspended ANS television is currently stored on the first floor of the 7-story building belonging to the institute, and interference with the property has been prohibited by a court decision:
“The door to the corridor on that floor is sealed by a court order. There is no interference with the door. There is no entry or exit to the sealed section. One security guard has been assigned for its permanent protection. We have no information regarding what is inside. No request concerning this has been received by us.”
Seyfulla Mustafayev, Vice President for Strategic Planning of the former ANS Group of Companies, refused to comment on the matter.
“I cannot say anything. Have you ever seen me give an interview to anyone?”, Seyfulla Mustafayev said in a phone conversation.
It should be recalled that ANS (Azerbaijan News Service) began its operations on November 26, 1991, as the first private and first news television channel in Azerbaijan. The founders of the TV channel are the brothers Vahid and Seyfulla Mustafayev.
The broadcasting of the television company was suspended on June 18, 2016, and its license was revoked by a court decision issued on July 29, 2016.
